MSVPAC supports physician legislators at Docs on Call

16 May 2011

Following the 2011 Legislative Summit, the Medical Society of Virginia Political Action Committee (MSVPAC) hosted Docs on Call, a political fundraising reception for the physician legislators: Sen. Ralph Northam, M.D.; Del. John O’Bannon, M.D.; Del. Scott Garrett, M.D. and Del. Chris Stolle, M.D. Approximately 50 individuals attended the reception held at the Medical Society of Virginia's (MSV) headquarters and had the opportunity to make direct contributions to the legislators. Attendees represented specialty societies, health care organizations and other lobbying groups.

MSVPAC Chairman Geoffrey Harter, M.D. welcomed guests at the event and introduced the physician legislators to the attendees and offered each the opportunity to make brief remarks. The legislators commented on the health care related successes that occurred during this year’s legislative session and thanked physicians for their hard work and dedication.

DocsonCall“Being able to serve Virginia has been life changing,” said Del. O’Bannon. “It has been tremendously gratifying to work on health care issues. Virginia is a blessed state. We can’t make good decisions without the information you provide. We appreciate all your work and support.”

These fundraising events help physician legislators cover the costs of keeping their constituents informed about issues relevant to their districts. These events also help them build relationships with key stakeholders who are interested in their legislative priorities. MSVPAC greatly appreciates the support of physicians, medical practices and their spouses that allow it to be an effective and highly-regarded political action committee. With this support, MSVPAC can help candidates who will work in the best interest of physicians and patients in Virginia.
